About Us
Concerned residents with a direct interest in the
historical preservation of the places, people, and events
of Maywood meet on a monthly basis as a means of discovery
and to discuss methods available to afford our youth with
a permanent history of the borough.
History
Formed originally by the Mayor and Council through
the introduction of a Borough Ordinance in 1986, the Maywood
Historical Advisory Committee is comprised of several volunteers
appointed by the borough as well as a town appointed Historian.
Future Goals
Our responsibilities include the archiving, recording,
and making available to the general public any and all things
relevant to the history of Maywood. Attaining this goal is
crucial to the community and the education of its youth; the
purpose of the MHAC is to preserve an historical record, and
educate the citizens of Maywood about that record. Access
to view many of these items is permitted through permanent
displays in the Local History Room of the Maywood Public Library.
In the future, these artifacts will include the present day
as today’s current events are tomorrow’s history..
